Storm inspections / San Antonio & the Hill Country
Hail hit Tuesday. We're on your roof by Thursday.
Free storm inspections, insurance-claim help and roof replacement for San Antonio, Boerne and New Braunfels. A photo report of every finding within 24 hours.
Most hail damage can't be seen from the driveway. These are the six points our inspectors check on every roof, and what each kind of damage looks like.
Point 1 of 6
Ridge cap
What it looks like
Wind lifts and creases the ridge shingles first. Look for gaps along the peak or shingles in the yard after a storm.
What we check
We check every ridge shingle for creasing and re-seal or replace the cap.
Typical fix
$350–$900 repair
Point 2 of 6
Shingle field
What it looks like
Hail leaves soft dark bruises where granules are knocked off. On a sunny day they show up as dark spots.
What we check
We chalk-circle each hail hit in a 10 x 10 ft test square, the same way an adjuster does.
Typical fix
Often covered by insurance
Point 3 of 6
Chimney flashing
What it looks like
Lifted or rusted flashing lets water run behind the shingles. Stains on the ceiling near the chimney are the giveaway.
What we check
We check the step and counter flashing and the sealant along the mortar line.
Typical fix
$450–$1,200 repair
Point 4 of 6
Pipe boots
What it looks like
The rubber collar around plumbing vents cracks in Texas sun after 8–10 years. It is the most common leak we find.
What we check
We inspect every boot and replace cracked ones with lead or silicone boots.
Typical fix
$150–$300 each
Point 5 of 6
Valleys
What it looks like
Where two roof planes meet, water runs fastest. Worn or cut-short shingles here cause slow leaks in the attic.
What we check
We check the valley lining and shingle cut line for exposed nails and wear.
Typical fix
$400–$950 repair
Point 6 of 6
Gutters & downspouts
What it looks like
Dents in gutters and downspouts are proof of hail size. Adjusters look at them to confirm a claim.
What we check
We photograph and measure every dent for your claim file before anything is repaired.
An inspector walks the roof, attic and gutters, marks every hit and takes 60–100 photos.
Day 2
Photo report
You get a plain-English report: what's damaged, what isn't, and whether a claim makes sense.
Week 1–3
Adjuster meeting
If you file, we meet your insurance adjuster on the roof and walk them through the evidence.
One day
Build day
Tear-off to new roof in a single day on most homes, magnet-swept for nails twice.
Why storm country is switching
Class 4 shingle vs. builder-grade 3-tab.
Most homes here were built with a basic 3-tab shingle. This is how it compares with the Class 4 impact-resistant roof we recommend after a hail claim.

Our crews
Our own installers. Not a sub we met last week.
Every Ridgeback roof is installed by a manufacturer-certified crew on our payroll, led by a foreman who has been with us for years. That's why we can put a ten-year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's.
A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. We've run crews out of the same San Antonio yard since 2014, and warranty calls go to the foreman who built your roof.
Every Ridgeback roof carries two separate warranties. Here is what each one covers, side by side.
From Ridgeback
10-year workmanship warranty
Leaks caused by how the roof was installed: flashing, nailing, valleys, boots and ridge. Repaired free, parts and labour.
10 yearsTransferable once
From the manufacturer
Lifetime limited shingle warranty
Defects in the shingles themselves, with full replacement cost in the early years because our crews are manufacturer-certified.

Paying for it
Financing for replacements
Monthly payments on a full replacement through a third-party lender, subject to approval. Insurance claims are paid directly as the insurer releases funds.
Storm season in San Antonio runs March through June. After any hail, book an inspection before you call your insurer: most claims are filed within a year of the storm.

They met our adjuster on the roof and pointed out damage he'd missed. The claim covered the whole roof.

Tear-off to new roof in one day, and they magnet-swept the yard twice. Not a single nail in the driveway.

Told us honestly our roof didn't need replacing after the April hail, just two boots. Saved us thousands.
